When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.
~Victor Frankl
Friends and family,
We have been on quite a journey.
I don’t think any of us can grasp how the events of the last year-and-a-half have changed each and every one of us. I have been told, many times over, that Kevin’s experience, and this situation, have made people question their biggest decisions in life. The love and sense of community that have been witnessed has been extraordinary! Thank you, everyone, for pulling together and being apart of something so special. We are all sad, but Kevin made it clear that we are to continue forward and live our lives to the fullest; let’s make him proud!
Some of you may know already, but I have decided to pack up house and put it into storage. It’s amazing how one’s essentials can actually fit into just 72 litres (and fit on your back)! I have a ticket to Australia for March 4th. I will be visiting friends all over the continent and they are sure to keep me busy. So far, some of the activities planned for the first 6 weeks include: camping, surfing, sight-seeing, sailing, renting ATVs, hiking, exploring and scuba diving! As it stands now, my itinerary takes me from the east coast to the west coast to the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, and then into the outback. I don’t have plans after the middle of April so we’ll see which direction the wind blows me.
I’m not sure when I will return home to Canada, but I will take the time I need to explore and rediscover…what? I don’t know…but I have a feeling I may discover a couple of things along the way.
I want to share the journey with you, so I will be blogging my little heart out. The support that I have been given this past year or so cannot easily be repaid; I feel that maybe sharing some of my experiences along the way may be a start to showing my appreciation. I’ll send out another quick email before I go, with a link that you can use to follow me around.
Cheers and many thanks,
Jill

Jill, we met in the airport, dealt with customs in LA together through to Vancouver and then to Victoria. You gave me your website on part of your ticket, and I just found it. I love your site, I love your writing. Your pictures bring back very found memories of our travels through Australia and New Zealand. We have travelled some of the same places. You have had much longer so have seen many more places. Your descriptions and photos, just re-affirm that we have to go back to see more. Retirement might come sooner than originally planned. I have been infected by the travel bug.

That is GREAT to hear…travel bugs are way better than bed bugs!
I think you may be happy to hear that although I had a five hour lay-over in LA on my way back down to the South Pacific…there were no customs woes and it was actually really straight forward…I still had the long wait, but having a good book was an instant cure.
Thank you for your comments. It was great meeting you! Let me know when you ‘retire’and come back to OZ!
Cheers,
Jill

I was very impressed by your view of us down under..It’s made me look at my place with a different pair of eyes.
Where are you planning to go next?
Are you keeping a journal so as to write a book later?
Is there anything you forgot or would have liked to have done whilst you were here but didn’t?
Thanx so much for your wonderful photographs.

Thank you very much for your comments!
there is so much left to do in awesome Australia. I am taking another month to travel the continent before heading up through SE Asia. Adelaide is on my list, along with the surrounding area. I would also love to get up north to Darwin. The top of my list is Exmouth on the west coast. I want to swim with the whale sharks!
I am keeping a journal and hope to do something with it in the future. We’ll have to wait and see
Thanks again!
ps- I didn’t get a chance to see Newcastle yet but it’s on my list too!
